NAEMT Courses

Various courses developed by NAEMT were introduced to enhance the knowledge of our pre-hospital providers. The NAEMT Courses in Singapore are coordinated by Trauma Training Centre, TTSH (for trauma courses) and UPEC (for all other courses) in Singapore. UPEC members are also part of PHTLS core faculty.

Pre-Hospital Trauma Life Support (PHTLS)
Pre-hospital Trauma Life Support (PHTLS) is recognized around the world as the leading continuing education program for pre-hospital emergency trauma care. PHTLS is developed by NAEMT in cooperation with the American College of Surgeons’ Committee on Trauma and lead by the National Trauma Committee in Singapore since 2013. It is currently provided in two training centres in Singapore.

PHTLS for First Responders (PHTLS-FR) adapts the world-class trauma care content from the 9th edition of PHTLS and delivers it in a style that is relevant to and accessible by first responders, and EMTs.

Advanced Medical Life Support (AMLS)
Advanced Medical Life Support (AMLS) remains the gold standard of education for emergency medical assessment and treatment. AMLS emphasizes the use of the AMLS Assessment Pathway, a systematic tool for assessing and managing common medical conditions with urgent accuracy. The course is endorsed by the National Association of EMS Physicians and brought into Singapore by UPEC in 2019.

Tactical Combat Casualty Care (TCCC) / Tactical Emergency Casualty Care (TECC)
Tactical Combat Casualty Care (TCCC) is developed by the U.S. Department of Defense, Defense Health Agency (DHA) Joint Trauma System to teach evidence-based, life-saving techniques and strategies for providing the best trauma care on the battlefield. Tactical Emergency Casualty Care (TECC) course teaches EMS practitioners and other pre-hospital providers how to respond to and care for patients in a civilian tactical environment.

Geriatric Education for EMS (GEMS)
